Hello, Cannon Beach
As you may remember, three weeks ago, George Vetter of Cannon-Beach.net invited Cannon Beach citizens to subscribe to my new weblog. This effort is intended to inform interested citizens about what's happening in city government and to also invite your comments and questions. I hope to make the blog informative and entertaining (emphasis on informative) and, through your comments and questions, gauge public opinion.
I've had a positive and interesting experience during my first 2 1/2 months here in Cannon Beach. And, to be perfectly honest, I want citizens to think that I and the rest of us who represent the City are friendly, polite, customer-oriented, good team players, honest, good public stewards and able to take smart initiatives that have, as their primary goal, the best long term interests of Cannon Beach. I hope this weblog helps me accomplish that.
With the above in mind, I hereby pledge to do the following:
1) I'll try to give you information you may not get anywhere else.
2) I'll write my own stuff - no ghostwriting.
3) I'll be honest. I believe credibility is the most important attribute a city manager can have. I'll try and choose my words carefully so I won't have to eat them later.
4) I'll write about what I know (local government in general and the City of Cannon Beach in particular) and won't write about stuff I don't know (just about everything else).
5) If I don't know something, I'll say so. If I don't know the answer to a question, I'll try my best to get the answer.
6) I'll let you know when I have new material.
Thanks to the dozens of you who responded to George Vetter's invitation and stay tuned for my second blog coming soon.
